I have the stock front and rear sway bars on my '74. How much stiffer does this make the ride?

Hampton,
I dont think sway bars affect ride stiffeness per say. They help prevent side to side movement.

X2...A properly installed/designed sway bar should not impact ride stiffness or harshness, only better control sway/body roll. There is some added friction due to the bars/bushings/end links/etc that could add to some initial stiction, but not much if everything is in good working order like it should be.

It stiffens side to side movment, but that is only a factor when one tire tries to go up or down and the other doesn't. Good sway bar design will allow soft springs for a good ride but will be stiff when you enter a body roll situation.
