I just made a order list of the seals, gaskets, emblems and flares just to put the parts back on after paint. It came to $1279 plus shipping. That has nothing to do with the paint job. That's just door seals, window seals, paint reseal kit, ect. So when you figure a paint job, then you have to add $1000 to it just to put it back together.

How much do you have? It will surpass that amount, but, life is short and Bronco's are cool.

Don't let us scare you off form your project with these numbers. It does not have to be spent in a few months or even a few years. You can do what you want or what you can afford and drive it until you can do more.
I am 2 years into mine and will be several more before I am finished. That is if no other upgrades come along...lol.

Exactly as deltarat said. Mine is a daily driver and I work on it 2 or 3 times a week, usually small projects that can be done in a day or two. For me, the most important things when I was looking for an EB were:
1. It needed to run (because I was going to drive it)
2. No Rust (as I don't have the space, equip. or experience to do body repair).

That's what I was looking for. With those two met, I could "restore" it one part at a time, and still drive it.

I would say a good starting place for a rig would be around $8k-$9k.

Add: (I've factored in an extra 15% on top of the listed price, you need to add shipping charges)
A/C: $1,400 (BC Broncos)
Front Disc Conversion: $900 (Wild Horses 4x4)
Power Brakes: $500 (Wild Horses 4x4)
Bearings, seals, etc.: $500

Total: $11,300-$12,300

You might as well round that up some for other parts that you might of forgot to add, or that you run into needing replacement.

You can definitely get into a Bronco cheaper than a new truck. You'll have some class too;) but you just need to sit down and decide what it's purpose will be. What I listed was an exceptional DD/road queen. If you wanted to do more off-roading, factor in a lower gearset, possibly a different transmission, bigger meats (tires) and a lift kit/flares. (Depending on tire size.)

Also tell your wife that any upgrades are "safety related" and not just intended to get you up a new route on the trail.
