I am trying to replace this license bulb, and I'm having difficulty with this housing - I can't seem to separate the globe from the housing. I don't want to try the "pry and break" method, and I can't remember if there is a trick to this. Does anyone have any advice, pictures, links, or videos?

that light doesn't belong in there. someone might have punched out the old guts and ran the wires for that replacement panel light through the back of the socket. i see a replacement light in your future..
