Hello,

I have ran across a guy that has a 4x4x2 power steering box. He said it's brand new freshly built. Asking 260? Seems a bit low...is there any way to tell or distinguishing factors?

The case is easy to tell but you'd have to spin the shafts to make sure it turns the correct direction.

Easy to tell the correct box if you know what it looks like. As for how to tell if it has been converted, when you turn the input shaft to the right, the sector shaft will turn counter clockwise and vice versa.

$260 seems about realistic to me. Just make sure it turns correctly or you'll need a 2wd sector shaft. That makes the box worth about $80, or whatever your pick and pull charges.

Look at the input shaft. If it has a flat side its probably converted. If its a full round 36 spline it has not been converted.
