I'm putting together a ClassicBroncos donation to the Katrina Relief fund. The destruction is simply unbelievable and so many people are going to need a helping hand to get back on their feet.

Here's how you can help:

Donations:
You can donate any amount by clicking this button:

Buy CB Merchandise:
100% of the profits from all CB merchandise sold in the month of September will be added to the fund. This includes all shirts, hats, stickers.

Become a Contributor:
For the month of September the $12 fee to become a site Contributor (photo uploads) will go to the fund. Click here to sign up. If you are already a Contributor and want to extend your membership for another year that money will also go to the fund.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

-- ADMIN EDIT --

50% of the funds will go to the Salvation Army and 50% will go to BroncoRescue.org to help out our fellow Bronco owners hit by the storm.

I am a student at West Brook High School in Beaumont, Texas and we are taking up money every 1st period. We have done it twice already and we raised $1500 and $3000 the next day. Lows hardware store matches what ever we raise so it ended up being $9,000. We also opened up our ice hockey arena to all that needs a place to stay and any one that needs a shower we opened our campus showers to anyone that needs them. I am starting to see more louisiana licence plates than texas...

Good point about what charity. We don't want to be donating to the "Big Easy Looters Relief Fund". ;)
I'm in for sure. I'll buy some stuff & maybe also donate. I'm sure Jon will send it to right place.

Typically my money goes to the Red Cross, so unless you specify otherwise in your donation that's where it will go. Obviously I don't want to be coordinating money to a dozen different charities, but if you have a strong preference just let me know and I'll cut separate checks.

Thanks to those who have donated so far! :)

Six up, half a dozen down in my eyes. They all seem to try hard. Did notice on the CNN site, not many charities out there from other faiths other than Christian. Certianly didn't see an Athiest Relief Fund.

How hard would it be for us to do a clothing drive as well. Start out in different states (and countries) and have members donate one or two changes of clothes. Then drive say a maximum of 100 miles one way to and meet aother member. Keep going this way until you end up some place just north of the gulf coast, by then you probably would need a big truck. Kind of like a chain letter, but with clothing. I sure all of us have a couple of changes of clothes we could give up.
Seems there are members from the areas effected as well. They could do the distribution so we know the stuff goes to the people who need it most.

Just a thought I was tossing around in my little mind. I could/maybe arrange for a big truck if needed.

Nice call Jon,
To just throw an idea out for you and and group-I am addressing you obviously since you started the ball rolling....... There are some eb owners on the ecbr list from Louisiana who have been impacted by the destruction. They are part of the Deep South EB club and are great guys-might be possible to have our donations going to fellow eb owners. Just a thought for consideration.

Good going Jon, Red Cross is as good as any. We have went over to the Pensacola Civic center where there are some refugees. Big need of diapers, wipes, and other daily essentials. My sister lives near there and she has been doing laundry for families. It's wierd you ask these people what they need and they are just like "well I can't think of anything", and they have nothing, I guess they are just shell shocked. I have went through many hurricanes in the last 28 years but have never seen anything like this. After Ivan we went over and dried in a lot of houses with tarps on the roofs, but we can't even get into mississippi let alone louisiana.

Deep south eb guys ok

I have been out of town since sat. Since that time, the eb guys I know personally posted they are ok with little to no damage, no flooding(they were far enough north from the flooding to avoid it :) So.....send your donations to the Red Cross. A friend is heading down to help his friends in one of the hardest hit areas tomorrow, we are sending 15 gas cans and lots of water with him.

Good deal Jon!!

I'm glad you are going to cut the checks directly to the Red Cross  as I know PayPal has all there charity ties to the United Way and if it went through them all the money would end up in one big fund and not distributed all to the gulf coast...where it is needed the most

Heads up.... Another site that I belong to got a letter from the Red Cross stating it was illegal to claim that we are collecting for or on the behalf of the Red Cross. We had simply stated that "funds would be donated to the Red Cross or another charity of the member's choosing." We were forced to stop collecting for them.... %)

Just thought you should be aware...

I work in the insurance industry. I am working in Biloxi, and this is the worst disastor I have seen in twelve years of working in this industry, including the Northridge earthquake. These people are in serious trouble, and need all that anyone can give. Give through proper channels.

I saw something beautiful today. I am staying in Hattiesburg and drive to Biloxi every day, and today I drove by a convoy of New Hampshirer Power and Utulities trucks, maybe thirty strong, rolling south to NO. God bless those men.

God help those who need it most in this terrible disastor.

Hurricane Isabell almost wiped us off our small island in MD over 2 years ago...the P&E guys that came from Alabama (Pike) were the most effective of any form of help we received..Red Cross daily 'meal trucsk' excepting.

Have you guys checked out this link

Thanks for the link Mr Joe. http://www.pavementsucks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?topic=78556
Frankly it's extremely disturbing that the Red Cross legal department is actively discouraging donations. What percentage of people's donations go to paying their paralegal to then turn around and write "cease and desist" letters to groups trying to organize donations? %)

Also, there's the BroncoRescue info that RobbieS posted a couple days ago. At this point I think I'll split the donations between BroncoRescue and the Salvation Army. That way we'll be helping our Bronco brethren, but also those who may be in more immediate and life threatening need.

Thanks again to everyone who's donated so far. ;D I'll be emailing each of you to be sure the above change is OK with you.

Update:

I just sent $454 to BroncoRescue. This is for donations and profits from the 1st half of the month. At the end of the month I'll make a donation to the Salvation Army. If we don't quite collect the $454 as we did in the 1st half of the month I'll make up the difference.

Thanks again for everyone who's donated! ;D

I first saw what Jon Hanna was doing with his donation drive for the Katrina Relief fund soon after launching BroncoRescue.org. Seems that both of us had the desire to help our fellow Bronco brothers about the same time! ;D But since Jon already had stated plans for the funds (Red Cross) and since that was a worthy cause, I did not feel right about jumping in on someone's action.
I really appreciate my good friend, Bill McFann, speaking up for our BroncoRescue.org cause! Then, he was aided by Robbie and the OK Classic Broncos! WOW! What can I say, but "Thanks, OKCB!" Therefore, you can imagine my surprise to log into my email this morning at school and find a note from PayPal that ClassicBroncos.com and Jon Hanna had made a donation of $454.00. With the matching funds from our fine Bronco vendor sponsors, the CB gift nearly doubled in size to the point that now our potential funds is at $8,529.00. Everyone is welcomed to view the spreadsheet that shows all the details.
BroncoRescue.org sincerely appreciates the fine work that Jon Hanna has done in collecting these funds for Katrina relief for our Bronco brothers! Many thanks to you all, Doc
