Is the there a process to follow for adjusting the shift linkage on my newly installed 3 sp floor shifter. I put the adjustment on the rods in the same position that the previous owner of the shifter had it. I am having a lot of trouble going from first to second.

Put the transmission in Neutral.
Disconnect the shift rods at the shifter housing.
Find the hole (not on the diagram) in the drivers side of the housing.
Insert a rod (drill bit usually works), the same diameter as the hole, into the hole. This will align the shifter gates.
Adjust the shift rods so they reattach easily.
Remove the rod/drill bit.
