OK, I apologize in advance for the following list of stupid questions but my brain has quickly become scrambled trying to figure out how to approach hydroboost brakes. I currently have the stock pb and ps setup on my '77 sport. I also have leaks in both the ps pump and master cylinder of the brakes so I have to do something to fix both of those problems.

My first plan for the brakes was to just replace the booster and master cylinder for around $140 from local parts stores. But I was also looking at the extreme braking system from JBG or WH that has the dual diaphragm vaccuum booster that increases stopping power for around $400. But everybody on here says to go with hydroboost and that it can be done for as little as $200. Sounded good to me since I knew it would pretty much require installing a saginaw ps pump which I had wanted to do anyway to fix my ps leak. I've searched the site for posts about hydroboost and I've read a ton that has been both useful and confusing at the same time.

I've looked at the vendors hydroboost systems but they're too expensive for my budget so I need to try to put the parts together myself. Also, it needs to require minimal fabrication to get it bolted up as I'm pretty new to this stuff. Can someone please help me with a list of parts I need and what vehicles to look for them from including years and models? Is the Lincoln Mark V system best to use as far as ease of installation? Do I use the mc that fits the Lincoln hydroboost or use the Bronco mc? What year and model vehicles use the sag ps pump with the dual return? None of the u-pull-it yards around me have vehicles as far back as the 1978 lincoln mark v. Are there options from more recent vehicles that will bolt up as easily to my Bronco? Can someone please take my hand and walk me through this? Should I just spend my $140 on the stock replacement brake parts and be done with it?

Thanks in advance.

OH boy if Todd doesn't get on this one, I will be amazed
I believe I have some little qualification to comment on this. (TIC)
Hboost can be implemented on any Bronco for a little as the cost of the hard lines to plumb it. My last unit was a one chevy unit and cost me 20 bucks with the lines.
You can also buy it from Hydrotech and get a primo system for your machine.
Any Hboost unit can be used to do the conversion.
the best is still the 70's diesel pickup setup (almost a bolt in)
any of the Ford 70's cars are next
others will work just mounting and connection is the work involved. (Astros, Superdutys, Mustangs, Motorhomes and others) ANY Hydroboost will work.
PS pumps. Saginaw with dual returns are the best but dont get hung up about that. The Tee method works well and converting a single return saggy to dual is dirt easy. Madgyver has the slickest way of doing this. Drop him a note, he loves showing this off.

In your case, get the complete system, MC and hydroboost. Last June I bought a ASTRO van unit with Master and propertioning valve for 35 dollars. This thing was literally new, as the owner replaced the unit and the owners teenager wrapped it around a pole 2 weeks later. Try for a 78 79 lincoln unit with Master cylinder. Personally I would buy a new master they are too inexpensive not to do this. The Hboost should be less than 20 bucks or go else where.
As to install check out my article on the left, gives you a step by step on how to do it.

Like said it can be done for cheap but dont plan on always getting it done as cheap as said. with any used parts it can be hit or miss. You will need brackets for the pump also the time it may take to amass the parts so if you want to drive it now you may need to fix what you have and then gather the parts to do the swap if your not in a rush to do this then you can find the parts cheaper

Nah, I let you jump in on these, TOFIC :).

I'm still on the hook for the hydroboost FAQ and I'm working on it. It will help answer some of these questions so poor TOFIC won't have to reply every time someone writes in with a question.
