My hydroboost came in and I was checking it out today and the studs on the hydroboost unit will not line up with my stock master cylinder. The studs are 3 1/2" centers and the master cylinder are 3 1/4" centers. I looked up the part number and it is for a 1 ton ford. Has anyone run into this problem?

Also I can't seem to get the rod from the from the brake pedal to the master cylinder out of the master cylinder. How do you remove it?

Slot the holes in your master cylinder with a die grinder and it'll fit.

Take the master cylinder out and clamp it in a vice with the push rod facing down. Wrap the eye of the push rod in a shop rag, wedge a breaker bar over the towel, and whack the breaker bar a few times with a five pound sledge. The little c-clip that holds the push rod in place will break and the push rod will fall out.

All good suggestions (love Justinos hammer cure) and will work.
Here is how I would handle these problems
the MC I would change out to one that fits, you said the HB was one ton ford get a stupid duty master and use it. pre 99 for disc/drum post 99 for a disc.
This may cure your length problem
If this does not appeal to you, do the cut and thread like in my article. Sometimes the hammer adjustment does not work (breaks the socket part of the rod on the master)
Also try a master from a mid 70's big Ford (my 76 mercury one worked fine)
drop me a note if you have more questions always love to hear stories from other brothers with HB problems.

3 strikes today. I went to a parts house that does a lot of hyd.lines, a hyd.repair shop and a big truck repair and none had the bubble fittings I needed for the super duty HB. They all looked at me like I needed a part for the space shuttle. That about covers it for this area. I would like to use an adapter to change to some thing more standard so I can get it repaired if I blow a line. I would like to be able to use common fittings on all and I could carry one spare line that would fit anywhere.
Has anyone used a superduty HB? I am thinking I screwed up getting it and should have used a astro van HB.

Where do you work? I may have to come to Jackson to get these hoses made. I wanted to get the fittings and get the HB mounted and screw them in and put the hoses on and mark them so they would be clocked right and carry them to get crimped.
I hate to have to drive 130 miles one way to get hydraulic hoses made, but I may have to. OCBR is coming up fast.
Do all HB use bubble fittings?
Thanks for the help.

The HB I've seen are the bubble fittings... I manage the Farmers Coop in Port Gibson. No prob on me making hoses and getting the fittings.. Some ps pumps take dif fittings.

I got the above adapters in from Sumitt today and the threads do not match my HB. The small one will go about 2 threads and the larger will go about 1 thread. They look like the right type of adapter but they won't screw in.What the Hell do I do now?
If something doesn't go right soon, I will be back to manual brakes for OCBR. I can't even mount the HB until I get the lines so it will be sure and clear the valve cover

Deltarat,

Those look right, at least for a astrovan hboost. I used

AEROQUIP FBM 2609 AN–6 ADAPTER
AEROQUIP FBM 2608 AN–6 ADAPTER
from summit for my astro hboost and the fit correctly--still dont have it installed it yet, but all fittings fit. They look the same as the ones you bought.
That said, I have no idea if the superduty uses the same fittings. Good luck..

They get real tight as soon as they start in the threads. I tried them lightly with a wrench and they were too tight. I didn't want to mess up the threads in the HB.

Get an astro booster.
or go buy some replacement super duty line and cut the ends off and mix& match hoses until you get what you want.

I had considered that as last resort.I need the adapters and I can get the lines made. I don't know if the stock line will fit into the HB or will it still need the adapter.

Do you know what year Super Duty booster you have? Every one that I've ever used/seen has the exact same fittings as the Astro booster - the 16mm and 18mm metric fittings that you referenced in your earlier posts (not bubble flares, btw).

The Bendix website said the part # fit 88-96 1 ton, 92-96 5.8 F/I, 88-96 7.3 diesel.
I got the info on the bubble fittings from Tofic.

The cross over part #s

Ford E8TZ-2005-B
Ford E9TZ-2005-A
Wagnor 527079
Raybestos RPB 650249

That's interesting because to the best of my knowledge Ford didn't put hydroboost in any of their F-Series trucks until the '99 Super Duties.
