Yelp, I did it now. Got my rebuilt AstroVan hydroboost from Rock Auto and it does not come with the Master cylinder push rod, spring and spring retainer. Is there place that sells just these parts?

Thanks in advance

Where do you get a new one? Anything from the autopart store is going to be a remanufactured unit.

Here's a more perplexing question. When the rebuilders buy these from core suppliers, what do they do with all the push rods, springs, and retainers? Why take them out to begin with ?:?

I feel your pain OP. The first one I bought through Walmart which showed the push rod installed on their website, but when I got it, lo and behold, no push rod.
I promptly returned it. I then found this one sold by Power Brake Exchange through Autozone, which also showed the push rod installed. I called Autozone
to confirm, and they said yes, it comes with the push rod. Don't think Autozone sells anything from PBE anymore, but you can contact them directly.
Looks like they're all out of the early model one, but the later model one they have in stock.

EDIT: One thing I didn't like about the part house remans is that they paint the whole thing black, including the cylinder.
The one from PBE comes unpainted and you paint it the color of your choice. I painted mine black, but not the cylnder :)

Well, here's one place I know...;)

Might not be an original Astro Van type, might not be the price you want when you're piecing yours together from junkyard and parts store sources. But it is new...

I'm guessing we'll still sell them separately, but that's not the norm.
What are these rebuilt units costing from places like WalMart and Autozone and Rock Auto? And what are you into the whole thing when you've got all the parts tallied?

Good luck with the hunt for the rod. I'd say junkyard too, or local rebuilder if you happen to have one nearby.

You can get the retainer clip in a rebuild kit, I made my rod but a spring of
that size and pitch I can't find anywhere. Here's the rod I made.

I was thinking, why is everyone going to the junkyard when a rebuilt one will come to your front door for 100? Now I know. Junkyard is where I'm headed. Thanks everyone for the guidance and direction.

100.00 is something you would not want to throw in the wind for sure, but going to the junkyard in 95 degrees, fire ants and blowing an entire day is a hefty price for me.:)
