"Extra" holes, missing holes, etc. 'lemme 'splain:

Brand new tailgate, "extra" holes near license plate bracket - 3 holes, in a vertical line. Upper 2 holes are 7/16" or so diameter, lower hole is more like 3/8". First thought was for factory spare tire swinging bracket, but it doesn't reach that far over to drivers' side. Large rectangular hole is obviously for license plate light and plate hinge, but what are the 3 large, vertical oriented holes for?

"Missing" holes - firewall, brand new body, where the accelerator pedal assy should mount - there is the large oval hole for the accelerator rod/cable to pass through the boot, but no holes to pass bolts through for the accelerator pedal assy bracket. Should I just find a good spot for the pedal, bracket. etc, and drill my own? The 2 holes visible are for the clutch/brake pedal bracket.

@eBronc2 lots of holes missing in that firewall piece. Some replacements are better than others. None are correct. This one had 2 of the gas pedal holes. But no speedo hole, and some surplus holes for wiring that I don’t use. So you’ve got some work to do.

Use your old one for a template, and you will be fine. E-brake holes and reinforcing brackets are also an issue.

@Scoop is right about the Tailgate. You need 3 grommets, then you fish the license plate wire thru the holes, and the loose grommets, then you install the grommets in the holes. Then you learn that the wiring harness on the new lamps is almost too short.

Thanks, guys. My Bronco was a rusty tub and a pile of parts I drug home for $300 bucks over 20 years ago, so any memories of what went where and how it went together are long gone. Sold the rusty tub, so I can't use it as a reference anymore. I'm glad I saved as many parts as I did, having to buy new parts now makes me wince at the prices. Going through boxes of old parts, trying to remember/figure out how and where they go back on is challenging...particularly when the holes I think should be there, aren't.
