• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

I know this is a borderline vendor no-no thread, but I need an ORIGINAL half-cab back glass.

I own a classic automobile glass company in Southern California and were going to have all of the glass for the 1st gen Bronco reproduced. We have original samples of all the glass EXCEPT the back glass for the half-cab. As is our practice, we only reproduce parts from OEM samples. No copies from copies from copies.

I would prefer to obtain the piece from someone in the Southern California area and I'm willing to travel in the area to get it in my hands.

In exchange, you will get your original part back as well as two of our reproduction pieces in your choice of clear, factory style green-tint or gray-smoke. This will not happen overnight. While I can get your sample back in your hands almost immediately, it will take about 3 months before we are shipped our first batch of reproduced glass from the factory.

I have listed references below.

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the forum :) . That's going to be a tough piece of glass to obtain I'm thinking.

How do you determine if a piece is original? Are you looking for a piece with the Carlite stamping on it?

What about a NOS half cab rear glass still in the Carlite/Ford box? Will your new glass have the correct etching for the year?

I'm a long way from CA and shipping glass isn't a very good option though.... Do you ever drive through Alabama? LOL

First, I want to thank everyone for their quick responses and to the Admins for not kicking me out!

As to questions, yes...the original glass will have the CarLite logo etched into the glass.

No...we don't do date coding or have logos etched on the glass. The majority of our customers look for quality replacement glass at a reasonable cost. There are fees that are paid to GM, Chrysler, FORD, CarLite, etc. for the use of their logos and part numbers. That cost would be passed along to our customers so we simply do not offer that service. Again, the majority of customers far outnumbers those who require it.

Lastly, I agree. shipping a good sized piece of tempered glass is a daunting task. While it's not completely off the table, I'm still hoping that someone here in Southern California can help us out. If the sheer number of Broncos that show up to the FABULOUS FORDS FOREVER show every year are any indication, there has to be SOMEbody out there that has a back glass propping a door open somewhere...

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!
