Some of you Oregon guys may have looked at this already. If so, what do you think it's worth? The ad says it's a 1970 w/ 302 and 3 speed. I'm looking for a good deal so I don't mind waiting for the right one to come along.

What are they asking for it? Looks like a lot of money to fix some of those issues unless your handy yourself with body work. How does it run?

I was told it runs fine. I don't mind replacing some sheet metal if I can get it for what it's worth, but right now he's asking $5500 for it. I'm thinking it's worth $3500. I could be way off on that though.

I would have a mechanic look at it (you pay and pick), try to get a good idea of what your are in for. I would recommend a compression test, check out the brakes, transmission, etc.. What comes back may tell you it is either worth the $3,500 you want to pay or look for something that is a little more money but more complete. It also depends on what you want to do with this Bronco. If you want to restore it, you are going to be in for a lot of money (based on my experience so far). You just get nickel and dimed to death. If you just want to have fun and offroad it you may not be that bad off.

I know for the $5k-$6k price range any EB that I find will be a project. I'm looking for one with minimal issues. The first thing I will do is get the suspension and drivetrain upgraded. The body and cosmetic stuff will come last.

I have a full width HP D44 ready to be swapped in. There is no way I would pay $5500 for this. I don't think I'm going to offer what I think it's worth. Don't want to upset the guy with a low ball offer even though that's probably what it's worth. I'll keep looking.

Thanks. I'm going to look at a few in Seattle this weekend. Hoping to have something soon.

Hey Jsmall, You've seen mine and I got it for 6500. Haven't had to paint it and there was no rust through anywhere and my roll bar was freshly powder coated, DS floorboard replaced, and the whole interior rhino lined, and the roof was completely stripped and repainted with new window seals. Without knowing the upgrades, I'm thinking $4500 or less. Even though I'm not looking for another one, I look everyday, and a lot of the ones on CL around here seem to be pretty sweet deals in the $10k range. I LOVE my Bronco and will never get rid of it, but if I had to do it all over again I would pick up a really clean one that already had some of the upgrades that I wanted and then finish whatever was left to do to make it mine. I probably could have saved $10k that way. Whatever you end up with, I'm looking forward to our next bbq with an added Bronco.

let the other guy do the work

then take the loss. look at most auctions for specialty cars today and you will see many that sell much lower than it cost to restore them.
at one time i bought cheap and tried to restore, lost money on most. now i buy cars that have had most of the work already done or partially restored. yes, it cost quite a bit more, but i think i am better off in the long run.

I'm looking to spend about the same as you did. I don't mind doing some work to it...actually I look forward to it. I'm just trying to find one with the cleanest body as possible. I want to put the suspension under it and upgrade the drivetrain myself. If I found one with a lift, I'm sure I would remove it anyway so I could put exactly what I want under it.

I'm not in a hurry, but I would like to find something soon. Look forward to the next BBQ.

The engine is the easy part and people are giving away 302's just to get them out of their garages. I would focus on the hard stuff like tcase, transmission, differentials and of course sheet metal. The piano hinge under the windshield and frame connections are important areas. That one looks very rusty so I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it.

Agreed. I need to keep looking. The sheet metal is my main concern because that can get expensive in a hurry. I have axles I want to swap under it already and the trans will likely get replaced with an overdrive soon. I'll need something to get me by for awhile until I can get the parts.

I'm looking at this on Friday

That one in Tacoma looks like a decent platform...better than mine was and $500 cheaper. The brown one you originally posted looks exactly like one that sat for sale the better part of 15 or 20 years in front of a small engine repair shop in Phoenix, OR. It moved every so often, but the guy trying to sell it must have thought it was gold-plated rust or something.

I'm hoping the one in Tacoma is still there this weekend. I've called a few times and have spoke to the owners dad. The brown one is located in Vancounver right now. Not sure if it's the same guy, but he does want a lot for it.

I have a line on one down in Roseburg that is not listed anywhere. I've been told it is uncut and in great condition. It's through a friend of a friend so I'm still waiting on confirmation that it is still there and some pictures.

I'm hoping the one down south is as nice as I've been told. An older guy owns it and it's been sitting in a barn for awhile. This is the only picture my friend was able to find. Still trying to track the guy down.

I would like more pictures as well. Let me see if I can explain this...my friends dad passed away a few months ago. The guy with the Bronco was a friend of my friends dad. When my friend was at the funeral this guy was talking about a Bronco he had for sale. My friend did not know him so he has been going through another family friend trying to track this guy down.

He was told that it's an early 70's uncut and it has had paint and new motor put in within the last few years. Other than that, I'm waiting on the contact info. It would be great if it is as nice as I've been told and I'm able to pick it up.
