Inner fenders help... tube front clip

So we tubed the front clip and are still in-process with attaching the fenders, grill, etc... but I am really stumped about how to build the inner fenders...

Should we buy stock wheel tubs and figure out how to mount them?
Should we just try and figure out a way to fab some out of sheet metal?

I really want to figure something out so we can keep the dirt/mud out of the engine bay once it's all figured out...

I will post some pictures on Tuesday of the front clip, but anyone have any ideas til then?

When I tubed mine, I did not add inners. They would be nice for dirt, but make it difficult to work on. I would just make some out of sheetmetal or better yet sheet aluminum that was installed with Dzus fasteners for easy removal. Oh crap, I just came up with something else to do. I thought I was close to finished for now.

It seems to me that the point of a tubed front clip is to ditch the inner sheet metal altogether. I have seen a photo of a tubed front clip that had flat plates extending into the engine compartment over the tires and welded to the tubing to help with rocks and debris being kicked up by the tires.

You know where that photo may be? :) We are ditching the stock mess up front, but I still think we need a little protection from debris under there....

I know it was on this board, but I don't remember how long ago. I remember seeing it before I tubed mine, and that was almost two years ago. I know it's clichéd, but have you tried running a search for tubed front clips. The pic may still be in the original thread.
