Pulled the edlebrock performer intake from my 302 a couple of nights ago. I started cleaning it up and noticed bad corrosion from 4 of the ports(coolant flows through?). Will I ever get these to seal properly? Reason I pulled it was b/c it was leaking oil at the back of the engine but also was getting some coolant leaks. thoughts/advice? thanks as always

Those are indeed pretty bad..and I would be worried about the passages getting eaten through farther inside too. Me?..I toss manifolds like that every time. And I probably see a lot more of them than most since I work on so many marine engines and have to routinely toss aluminum intakes and the timing covers too. It hurts..but losing an engine to coolant in the oil hurts worse.

Looks like a case of lack of maintenance. Get a new one. They were less than $100 recently somewhere. Don't just buy another used one from ebay. It's not worth the shipping. I had the same thing happen and it leaked coolant out the back. I wasn't sure if it was the intake corrosion or the crappy Felpro 1250 intake gasket.

Thanks guys. I was expecting confirmation that it was a risky proposition to try and use. I'll cough up the coin for a new one.

Autozone has them cheap and you can sometimes find an online coupon and use it in the store. I paid $89 over the summer.
