Hey all, Saw an interesting roadster last week and thought I'd share a few pics of it. It's a restoration project that is mid-stream at this point. Super early VIN U13FL7322XX and currently in CA, but was sourced from the midwest.

A couple of things caught my eye - Hard to tell with rollbar in there, but I didn't see any signs of the jack pedestal in the right rear corner - again maybe they ground it smoothly or I need to remove rollbar to see signs of it, but has anyone seen an early 66 original that didn't get the jack pedestal on the left rear floor?

Also - Same with tailgates having dimples for the spare tire hardware - this Body, all freshly blasted shows dimple "hole guides" for the washer motor for electric windshield squirters, however, the dimples are on the front left fender tub and not the apron itself as I've usually seen.

Forgive me if this has been covered elsewhere, but the earliest roadster I've restored is an early September one.

Interesting finds there Andrew! Cool-cool!

So while in TN at Super Cel 2017, met up with Dennis (?) and his September '65 roadster. Interesting discoveries on his rig too, similar to your finds. Dennis swore the jack stand bracket as well as the tire iron/crank handle hold-downs were mounted originally inside the passenger compartment. Jack is located under the passenger seat, the hardware hold-down before the bulkhead. Said the traditional location for the jack hold down bracket at the rear had no indication of spot welds whatsoever. Even has this old photo before he restored showing the location of both spot welded mounts.

Also, he discovered that the oil bath air cleaner assembly and the valve cover oil cap were gray in color, not black. When he stripped both, no signs of any black finish.

Wow, thats pretty cool! I guess new production 2021 Broncos kind of following the same early construction patterns as the Aug-Sept 65 guys. Hahha.. get this things done and out the door any way we can.

I'm guessing from the washer pump location that the dimples on the wheel tub are too close to where the bag would be, so they moved them over to the apron. The floors are pretty thrashed and non existent on the 66 I started the thread with... but I will recheck for any signs of jack/tools location like that.

I think this Roadster will be available possibly, if you know anyone looking for an early first days project..... It needs some body mount area frame repairs and has some pocks on frame but VIN very visible.

I've owned a '66 U13 that was "washer bag delete and visor delete". It had the dimples aka guides like Andrew described. It's one of the earliest U13's, technically the second oldest.

I would have to say the earliest roadster you restored was a mid to late August build.

Took a look at FL748255 yesterday too and found no dimples....for squirter, just the motor in the usual place on the apron.

At what point did the 6 cyl engine radiators get shrouds?
Just curious.
I've seen 6 cyl Falcons with out a shroud as well.

None of bronco 6cyl came with shrouds. Even with just 4 blade fans keeping a 170 is easy.
