Are you asking if it is the box you actually bolt to the frame or the box that you use the internals out of?

It is definitely not the one that you use to bolt to the frame. Not sure about it being the correct box to take the internals out of.

no it's not. that's a '77 F100 4x2 box that some people mount inside the frame. the box for the internals you want is off a '80 to '86 F150. then put them in a '76 to '79 F150 4x4 box.

Yes there is, I've got one and it was a very easy install.

It actually bolts right in with 3 holes matching up to the stock location holes.

I've got photos of it on my PC at home and will try to find the photos tonight including a photo of the part number so you can just go to a parts store and buy one if they will let you take it without your core.

I think it was out of a 90's GMC pick up truck, it's got a 2.7 ratio turn.

I would also like to know what box Chris is referring to.

As far as I know, the only bolt on box available is this one from PSC Motorsports which is quite expensive. All other boxes require one or more additional holes to be drilled in the frame.

Ok, so I couldn't get the photos to upload into this thread, they were too big but I got them into "My Gallery" of the steering box I'm using. I think it was off of a late 90's GMC Sport Package Pick up truck. 3 of the 4 tabs on the box bolt up directly onto the stock Bronco frame holes. It requires you use a metric bolt, I think it was a 10.5 thread, don't recall the lenght. I'll add photos of it installed on my Bronco in the next day or so. OH, and here is the part number as seen in the photos.

Delphi 2.7 Ratio Bolt in Steering Box
Part No.
Line 1. 26059865
Line 2. WF5 2Ml7 OR 2H17
Line 3. Delphi

Again, 3 of the 4 tabs on this box line up with the stock steering box holes. Metric bolts required.

Happy parts hunting.

Chris - did you use this box because it is stronger or because of the turn ratio ?

I used it because the stock Bronco boxes were mostly too expensive or needed to be rebuilt then you still have a 35+ old steering box.

Also, the only modification required was the hose, I cut-off the "O" ring fitting and flared the end going into the pump but I could have got an adapter.

I just had it appart in the driveway and didn't want to go chasing for an adapter that most part houses just couldn't understand.

I lost them in the conversation when I said, "It's a 66 Bronco with a 97 GMC steering box, just sell me the hose and ....:)" The guys at the part store just couldn't wrap their head around it.

The only minor downfall to this box is at about 65-80miles per hour on the freeway, you really need to hold on to the steering wheel!
