Issues with AOD valve body help

I have a really hard shift from 2nd to 3rd. The transmission place did a free eval. and said something was really messed up in the valve body. I really dont know squat about the aod or automatics in general. I do learn quickly though. Can the valve body be removed and either worked on/fixed myself or replaced? They were asking 300-400 for the job, and I just don't pay people that much to work on my truck. Also any tech articles or links related to the subject are appreciated.

Thanks

Did you make sure the tv cable is adjusted right. You will burn up the tranny if its not set just right. If you take off on flat ground and drive like a ol lady what speed is it at when it shifts. 2nd to 3rd should shift about 25-30 mph if I remember right. To much pressure will make it shift harder.
