Kayline top question - pillar mod?

Read everything that I could find on the Kayline fast trac tops and the pillar mod. That being said, I haven't found anything with my particular problem. I am wondering if my vertical has already been cut. I have a space above the door in my mock up that looks like it will go away if I drill the pillar hole. If I do the mod, it looks like I would have to cut the flat vertical bar that the door closes against. Did others have to cut the flat as well to make the mod work? If I drill the pillar hole, it looks like the window frame of the top will fit nicely on the horizontal and the vertical would go the full length of the door window frame and sit in front of the door seal. Any suggestions?

Yes you have to cut about an inch off the rod so u would also need to cut an inch off the flat part also. Keep in mind this isnt an inch total. That would make the flat and rod the same length. You must keep the same offset between rod and flat so that it will sit down in the bracket you make. But do not drill the pillar. The home made bracket works best

Did you make a homemade bracket, or does anyone have a picture of their bracket for the mod? I was just thinking about using flat stock, but wasn't sure if/how that would interfere with the lower door seal on the pillar? If anyone has a picture would appreciate it.
