I'm running a Performer air gap intake manifold (adds 3/4 inch), Was running Holley 670 and now a Holley Sniper, and am running a 66 type hood with the thick reinforcement for the windshield hook (reduces space by 1/2 inch), 1" body lift. Tons of room.
X3 on the hi-po 289 base, filter and lid when I ran a carb with stock body / hood / no lift. You can even get a K&N filter for the housing to move more air.
