LUBRs wheeling - Lets see your pics

I saw a few pics of LUBRs wheeling and I've been contemplating that very idea. Not just gravel road pics, I'd like to see technical stuff. I know they have limitations with articulation and clearance but just want to hear thoughts on what works and what doesn't. I know rock guards are must for the rockers,, but what else is critical?

I have a 1" BL, 2.5 SL, (w/ bilsteins), BFG KM2s 235LT 85R/16, suspension seats, cage, 31 spline axles, rear 9 w/4.56s (Detroit trutrac), Dana 44 (open), nv3550, twin sticked dana 20 w/ heavy duty output shaft, hi lift, spare, far extinguisher, . I need to work on the cooling,(radiator, maybe a pusher fan), and the carburetor?

Annadale, don’t be getting no ideas of tearing up that beautiful halfcab of yours! Hope you are doing well?

A couple of mine from Arizona, California, and Colorado. You'll want some sort of rocker panel armor for sure with a drivetrain like yours it's a shame not to wheel it!! I have front/rear lockers, 31 spline and cut down F150 axles in the front and lots of armor with a wristed radius arm for some decent flex. I've had a few cut Bronco's over the years and built this to push the limits a little.

I wheel mine. Just need to understand it’s limits and not fall to pier pressure!

The last pic is a killer LUBR. 4 Link rear, and totally bada$$.

He does the most difficult black trails.

everyone thanks for the LUBRs wheeling pics,,

isicbronconut,, I happen to see your pics some where and that's what got me thinking and LUBRs wheeling. I haven't seen that many pics before. That's some crazy stuff right there. Its a different mindset that's for sure.

muskrat big 10-4 on the limits and peer pressure,, hahaha,, only time I got in trouble with my former bronco was when I was a lot younger and the conversation sorta goes like this,, " three of us standing around looking and going,,yeah you can make that, anybody can make that ,, my grandma can make that" then spend the next three hours digging out, stuck in a gawd awful mudhole at 2am in the morning in the Florida boonies. When someone came to help us first thing they said was " what in the hell made you want to go in there"? good times,,,,

Nice broncos too.. those pics awesome.

Crawdad,, I'm still kicking, working but I'm tired:p and never seems to be enough time for stuff. Still taking care of dad,, he turned 92 yesterday but he's getting on and time is golden. I don't get much time to do much of anything now but I did manage to go to URE for a day trip with NC-fordguy and the group and that was a lot of fun. I'm trying to get set up so I can go do some stuff like the that more. I got me a van I'm setting up and getting a trailer soon so I can drag my bronco somewhere and see if I can camp like the they do.

It was a learning experience. Wheeling like that is alot different than what I was doing way back. It's a lot to think about lines, spotters, rolling down a freakn mountain  thinking am I going to be worried about tearing the bronco up more than enjoying the moment etc.

Seat time is priceless. Knowing how things feel and what to do about those feelings without thinking about it is a difficult learning curve that takes practice so get out there. Knowing you have the right folks helping you is priceless. I get nervous if the guy spotting me has no rig, one that is pristine or a can of liquid encouragement, do they really know what they think they know, often no unless you know their history.

Seat time also brings confidence. So is the fortitude to say "I'm not feeling this one" and turning around, taking the bypass or pulling cable. There is no shame in that. Just this week was out with my most trusted core wheeling friends, got to a particular spot, walked it, walked past it and said I'm not feeling it and turned around. Wheeled the hour and a half around to the top of the trail and waited for them to finish, no regrets and had a great time.

Great pics! My hat's off to all of you who wheel your LUBRs hard. The original Ford designers had no idea what we'd be doing with Broncos 50 years later!! ;D

Thank you, thank you very much :) that's a natural RTI ramp out in Choke Cherry Canyon aka the Glad down in Farmington NM. Old school wristed radius arm action, so glad I spent $200 having that rear bumper powder coated!!

Unfortunately, I don't have any real good action shots and don't think I'll EVER have any like some of those bad-a$$ shots above! Holy crap!

Here's a few shots of mine. Did the 5.0L upgrade in 2010, but just now going EFI. Hoping I can turn the key this weekend. (also hope I didn't screw up too much on the wiring!)

Great thread, by the way! Cheers, Bill
