Luk clutch kit

So I need a new clutch. Read lot's of post's and Luk seems to be the most popular and is also the clutch that was in my Bronco.

I can get the Luk 07-120 kit from pepboys at the moment for $93 dollars including tax.

Is this the same exact kit that the vendors sell for an extra $100?

Will this clutch be good enough behind my new 357w, with 4.88's and 37's?

I read questions about whether Napa has Luk clutches and called them. They do infact sell them as their own and the end of the Napa part # is the 07-120.

Thanks.

Most likely it is the same. You have to figure that a nation wide chain store will get better pricing on things then a smaller vendor.
It should be a fine clutch for your bronco

Many LuK clutches are made in Ohio which is good. The properly selected clutch will grip all day long. I tried to find the application for that clutch but could not. Simply call their tech line and they will tell you.

With a 351 I would want one rated at least 350 ft-lbs. You could shop the online catalogs for a 351 equipped truck with an engine with a ton of torque. Then check the input shaft diameter and splines to see of it will fit.

Not a $100 and not Pep Boys but I have used these on some serious torque beasts with stick tires and never damaged or lost one

Spec does or at least was using luk pressure plates. Theres like 3 main companies that make clutches so a lot of the better clutches will be from one of them.
That is Luks part number for early broncos. Diaphragm pressure plates for the early years are a conversion part I believe the later diaphragm clutches that came stock on fords used a slightly different bolt pattern. I know Ive ordered a later model style and it wouldnt bolt up.
Overall in todays world most of your stock replacements are all the same a 11in cltuch will be use the same part number for the pressure plate for all applications that 11in pressure plate fits.
Most of the diaphragm type pressure plates actually have higher clamp loads than even the old Hipo long style pressure plates of yester year.

That is the part number I ordered. There are two that will work on the Bronco. The pressure plate and disc are the same, the difference is in the throw out bearing and pilot bearing vs. bushing.

Check Amazon while you are at it. That is where I got mine and with free shipping. NAPA was the next closest price wise. I did get my flywheel from NAPA(Luk brand as well).

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and also that it will be fine.

I did check amazon as I have prime but it was way more expensive. There are a few parts stores online with free shipping at just over $100. I have an account with Napa and could get it for $141+tax.

I know the sky is the limit when it comes to how much to spend on a clutch. But my "budget 351" has grown to include performer rpm heads etc etc, new this, new that and I have to stop the bleeding at some point.

Thanks again.

No big deal, but it may save someone some time, I believe the LUK 11" Diaphragm Clutch Kit #07-120 has been superseded by #07-027.
