Master Cylinder bench bleeding

Hi gang,

To bench bleed a master cylinder... Can I use a power bleeder, or should I make my own bleeder by attaching some clear tubing to the lines (and have it feed back into the master cylinder)?

I own the Motive Products Power Bleeder , which pressurizes the resevoir with fluid, which is what I would use if it's OK to use a power bleeder.

Thanks for your help,

Jerry

The way I usually bleed a M/C before installing it is to clamp it in a vice, then with a screwdriver push the piston in until it bottoms, then fill with fluid while holding pressure on the piston, then release it.Leave the caps in the brake line holes to help with spills.Use the pressure deal to bleed the whole brake system.Hope this helps.

If you have a power bleeder just install it on the truck empty, hook up all the lines, and power bleed the entire system together.

I dont have a power bleeder so I use these brake lines i cut off a truck at pik-a-part. Then i bent the tubes to squirt back into the reservoir. Pump the piston to bench bleed it, then snap the cover on and install the MC. Brake fluid removes paint, so if you spill it, wipe it up and wash the surface quickly.

Thanks Howie and WildTurkey. I ended up using my MityVac to bleed all the air out that way... Tomorrow AM I'm going to use the pressure bleeder and bleed the system... And see if it'll stop. :)

I've used a dowel rod to bench bleed the m/c while in a vise.
