I'm looking for a reputable mechanic around North Texas to do a fair amount of work on my '75. Of course, experience with early broncos is preferred. Like most I've worked on it myself in the past, but the laundry list of things that need done has just grown too long.

It's been out of commission for a few years and I just haven't had the time, space, or money (thanks, college:p) to address it. Finally, I have some cash to throw at it (thanks again, college;D) to get her back in drive-able condition. I'm not in a huge hurry, since it's no longer my daily driver.

She's in my garage in Arlington Texas right now, and it would need to be towed or trailered. I can elaborate on the things that need done, if it helps.

With that said, its been 5+ years since I've been able to be an EB enthusiast again. I can't wait!

If you have $45k sitting around, drop it off at Gas Monkey :D

What all does it need?

Heh, 45k...I wish.To get it running again, and safely, I need:

  1. Brakes - Replace all the slave cylinders and shoes (stupid drums). Flush, bleed, and adjust entire system, including the emergency brake
  2. Hoses and Wires - Rats nested under the hood and chewed a few holes . While i caught them before they did too much damage, the truck needs to be inspected thoroughly for holes in rubber and plastic. I'd like to upgrade the lines where practical
  3. Flywheel - I haven't confirmed which, but i either have a few teeth missing in the fly wheel, a crack of some sort, or a starter with sheared teeth. Based on behavior when i parked it, it sounds like teeth are missing on the flywheel. This is the work I really cant facilitate/do myself.
  4. The carb could use a good tuning.
  5. Oil pan probably needs a new gasket.

If things go well, there's more work to come. But first i need to get it running and safe to drive.

Also, a mechanic in the central Texas area (Austin and surrounding areas) works for me.

if you're considering a selection near Austin take it to BC Broncos in Kerrville/Ingram. they'll do it right for a fair price. highly recommended. talk with Jason
or Chuck.
