On Friday a small group of us went on Medano Pass - the “back door” to Great Sand Dunes National Park. Two Badlands Sasquatch Broncos and 2 Rubicons were on the trip. It was a fun day with a little rain towards the end of the trail. Medano Pass is an easy to moderate trail with a number of water crossings, a couple of easy climbs and a sandy section once you get into the park. The light rain made the sand easier to traverse.

All in all a good day!

Medano is a fun pass. Did you go over Pass Creek Pass getting there? It’s just a gravel road but pretty.
No, We went Yellowstone Road (gravel) to 69 through Gardner. Pass Creek is on my (easy to do) bucket list! I’ve never done it.

You can do it, it’s 27 miles from your front door😂 little further if you combine it with Old La Veta Pass, which is 23 miles to the east trail head.

I have done Old La Veta Pass. It’s a cool little drive.
