Mini amp with volume knob vs. radio guys get in here

Who has got a mini amp with either Bluetooth or a cord to attach to your phone in lieu of a radio? I'm searching and not finding what I'm looking for. I thought someone had mounted a handy mini amp at the bottom of their dash which had an integrated volume knob, and just hooked the iPod or phone to it, and ran a pair of speakers. I am at the point where AM/FM is no longer important to me. I am looking to run a pair of 5-6" speakers. Any brand or model recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

My stereo was hooked to an amp. Driving one rainy day at the beach the stereo stopped working! As an interim fix until I got home, i plugged my iphone directly into the AMP. That was in July! I love it. However, added to my ever growing to do list is to upgrade to bluetooth so I can eliminate the cord. I use the volume on Iphone to adjust loudness
