Modifying doors

Is it possible to fit later doors on an early body?

The PO started the process. The latch mechanism on both doors have been relocated to the position where they align with the striker posts.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to modify the striker backing plate to fit so I can use the oval striker post.

From there I believe the rods can be modified to make the door latch, handle and locking mechanisms to work properly.

I don't want to continue if it just can't be done. I believe I'm close.

I think I should clarify. I have a set of 1976 doors that the latch locations on the doors have been moved to match the striker location of the 1966 body.
