Afternoon all,

I'm new to this process and looking to replace my spark plug wires. I've read several times to stick with Motorcraft, but can't seem to find the right part number. I have a fully stock 302. Rockauto says the right part is MOTORCRAFT WR3866BR or alternate part number E5PZ12259HR, but Summit Racing and local Autozone says that part is not compatible. Called my local dealership and they don't have anything available that's Motorcraft that fits either. These may not exist anymore, but does anyone have any idea if these plugs fit, or which do?

You have a decision to make first are you using a small stock cap or the more modern big diameter cap? like early mustang 289/302 or late model mustang 5.0 early the wire goes into the cap late model goes over the nipples on top of the cap. use 1967 mustang for the early style

or late style 1979 Mustang.

Then you can pick your wires.

I can't say for the small cap (female socket) plug wires.
I have used the Ford Motorsports wires (in black and blue, but not a red) with great luck over the years. The do require the large cap with male posts. The large cap will fit the small distributor. There is a cap adaptor (very easy to get and inexpensive) to mount the late model cap. The male cap is less prone to crossfire. The male cap isn't a pocket that can collect moisture either.

But the large cap can interfere with aftermarket 14" drop base air filters.

Many people here use Ford racing plug wires, myself included. Especially if you're running larger plug gaps with an upgraded ignition system it becomes worth it. You can find them from a number of places, I ended up getting mine from the below.

This looks right, except I have the stock distributor and ignition. Where did you find the conversion kit for the cap you're using?

The conversion kit isn't anything special. All stock parts for a late 70s to mid 80s carburated V8 Ford. '77 F250 with a 460, '85 mustang GT with a 5-speed. All the same cap, rotor, and cap adaptor. Pick your favorite parts store.
