mustang upper and lowers, will they clean up? (pics)

If I take these to get bead blasted will they look like new with a coat of clear??

I got quoted 60 bucks to get these blasted, that normal??

You may try a can of oven cleaner and a stiff tooth brush. another way after you scrub it down try some liquid drain cleaner. Warning this stuff is tough on the human body so properly protect your self especially your eyes since you will be using harsh chemicals with a brush. I have cleaned several sets of old aluminium mags with this stuff and have been very pleases with the results. Do not soak the parts in this stuff or in a day you may not have them anymore. I have more time than money and 60 bucks just to blast a manifold is a little steep. money better spent elseware. If you have the bucks to blow go for the blasting. I dont think it is too far out of line due to the expence of glass bead. if it was sand that would be another story but sand blasted aluminium is ugly.

I dont know about having them media blasted but I had a machine shop tank the manifold from a 4G63, it looked much worse than that and came out amazing. We had been working on it with a brush and some carb cleaner and had barely scratched the surface of the carbon buildup. My local slacker machine shop charged $20 cash and I went home with it very, very clean.

Try aluminum wheel cleaner, the one for non clear coated wheels.

I took mine to a shop i used to work for and used there bead blaster to do mine. It took me a good hour and a half to get them to the point i wanted so $60 dollars don't sound that back. When i was finished mine looked about like what a new aluminum edelbrock intake looks like. It also took a long time and a lot of air to get all the beads out from inside the upper Might want to tape it off before blasting it. You can't hot tank aluminum or i would say go that route. It was definatlly worth it to me it came out looking 100x better then when i started.
