I could resist picking this 66 up nearly 2 years ago. It had sat for years, didn't even turn over. I figured one of the many people who ask about buying my 1969 would buy it. It was so cheap I just couldn't pass it up. I rolled into town and before it was even unloaded I had interested buyers. Still I figured i would get it running, replace the floor boards, remove the carpeting and make even more because it would look better and be runnin! Afterall I now had a waiting list of potential buyers.
Well best laid plans have cost a lot of money...and still I smile. When I am not directly looking at the bronco I find myself looking at my photo gallery on my phone. Why should I smile? Well my son, my 15 year old son began to take a liking to it. And I should add my family has had two devastating cancer diagnosis with the last 18 months. Its been a very hard stretch, but this has been something fun, positive and educational to a young man. I think its good to learn how to work on a "car". Not just look up the codes.
Anyway, after working throughout Christmas break to reassemble and install new rubber, glass and parts he drove it to school today for the first day of class. It was fun to see his excitement and to hear about his classmates reactions.
Well heres the before, during and current progress. I welcome your feedback on our journey and the bronco. Its mostly correct for a 66, There's a few things not true, some which bug me but I intentionally installed the wrong but larger mirrors for safety. The tailgate is new but wrong, we love the old mag wheels, (not correct but better). Anyway here she comes...
