Nice thought for a new magazine -- I think we could give BD a run for their money with this cover! ;D

Good advice -- call, and politely ask for some free stuff. But remember -- it's the photograph itself that's protected, meaning whoever took the photograph owns it. It's not the fact that it's your Bronco, it's the fact that it's your PHOTOGRAPH. Make sense? I can take a picture of your Bronco and pretty much do anything I want with it - your Bronco isn't copyright protected. My photograph is. Now if your smiling face is recognizable in my photograph, then I'll need to get a model release from you before I post it on all the Bronco porn sites, but I don't need any such release to sell a photo of your Bronco. Seems like a minor point, but it's something you should know before you speak with them. Say -- "hey man..why did you use my photograph of that Bronco without my permission? I'll be happy to sell you the rights to use it" -- not, "that's my bronco in that photograph, so I want free stuff". Subtle, but distinctly different. ok -- I'm done with my soapbox. ;D

i took the photo.i put it on classicbroncos.i think it`s cool they used my truck but, they could have at least asked. even if they asked if they could post it without compensation i would have said yes.but the fact it was stolen and in the catalog for over a year without me knowing kinda pisses me off.

I'm suprised that Hedmann just plucked a photo of your Bronco from the web. In 2002, they contacted me and used one of my best off road photos on page 34, the 4WD truck page, and one of the pictures they came out and took on the back cover. I also saw that picture they took in several 4WD magazine Hedmann ads afterward. They were very courteous but I did have to sign a release. They offered me a free set of headers, which I didn't want, but I took a couple of their camp shirts instead.

I guess they've figured out its a lot cheaper and quicker to grab photos of classics from the web.
