Where can I find good info on a C4? Like shift points, what controls them, adjustments? On maiden voyage noticed, I couldn't notice shifts! Seems like it goes thru all the gears in about 75 ft. Shifted thru them manually to make sure they were all there. No problems, just curious. Tranny has been rebuilt or replaced recently, nice clean paint, new modulator valve etc. Got no tach yet so can't tell when it shifts.

To adjust your shift points, you'll need to check your vacuum at idle. 14-18 inches is the spec for green stripe modulator. If you want it to shift later and harder then you need to increase pressure by turning the modulator screw in. Don't turn the screw in or out more than 4 turns from fact. setting. Decreasing pressure will shift sooner and softer,(screwing the adjuster out). Search modulator adjustment, lots of info on this forum.

Thanks guy's. I'm real good at reading, plus we just bought a "77" with a bad tranny. Guess I'll learn more than I planned on.

Explorer mines been from 4 in to four out, on a green and a yellow stripe might find a 400 rpm difference in the two.

Finally put a tach in and it shifts into second at 900 rpm and into third at 1200. Shifts smooth as silk and engine powers thru it great. Is there any good reason to adjust it to shift at higher rpm's?
