I am going to do a disk conversion for my 74 EB but haven't been able to find a complete list of parts/ donor vehicles that i can use to gather what I need. Does anyone here have a complete list and any tips for doing the conversion? THanks, Bill Cox

Chevy or Ford?
I have parts for the Ford conversion.
knuckles
For either conversion you will need a:
master cylinder
ford rotors
clalipers with pads
new hoses
proportioning valve ( some say its optional)
wheel bearing seals.
Chevy spindles and caliper support, up to 74 or 76, needs small inner bearing. Works on D30 and D44.
Most folks do the ball joints while they are there.
The Ford conversion will need tie rod end adapters available from BC Broncos. 78-79 F150 4X4 is popular for the knuckles/caliper support and spindles. Works on D44 only.
I am sure there are other years that will work, someone else will chime in.

here we go:

'72-'76 blazer spindles
'72-? blazer or pickup calipers (be sure you have the clips for the inside brake pads)
'76-'77 bronco hub-rotor assy
proportioning valve
warn or superwinch hubs
chevy brake lines

'77 on up used a corporate 10 axle and the inner wheel bearing surface is too big, but you can have them lathed down. i don't recomend it.

make sure you get the caliper mount pins also unless you're buying loaded calipers (easiest way to go). you'lll have to pay caliper cores ifyou don't have any. best thing to do is find a blazer someone's parting out and buy the spindles, backing plates, and calipers for $50.00 and use the calipers for cores. this is what i did.

good luck!

I will add to the list a little.

Spindles: Use from a Dana 44
Chevy 1/2 ton & Blazer late '72 to early '77
Jeep wagoneer, cheerokee or J-10 '74-'76

VIN's were standarized in the late '70's one of the digits ( can't remember right now) tells the year of the vehicle, helps keep to you cleaner. Emmision stickers also have the year printed on them.

If you find the correct spindle it will have the same size wheel bearing for the inner and outer which is the same as your currrent EB bearings.

Backing plate:
Same years and vehicles as above, but I have also used backing plates from the chevy corp 10 axles up to '82 could go beyond that but I never looked it up i think they went metric on the caliper bolts in the '80 sometime.
There are 2 types of backing plates 1 piece heave plate and a 2 piece which has tin for the dust shield part, the 1 piece is usualy on the later chevy's.

Hub Rotors:
'76-'86 Ford 1/2 ton 7 Bronco don't waste time on use here.
Get the new ones from Autozone Aimco 5492 for $25-40 ea.

Here is an AutoZone list someone put together:

#024196 0524 performance friction pads comp set $27.99
#095745 C503 RH disc brake caliper $12.99 +$10.00 core=$22.99
#095752 C502 LH disc brake caliper $12.99 +$10.00 core=$22.99
#048859 5492 brake rotor/hub comp. $30.99x2=$61.98
#788737 set 37 wheel bearing,Timken $13.99x2=$27.98
#788422 set 45 wheel bearing,Timken $13.99x2=$27.98
#704049 H5002 brake guide bolts $6.99x2=$13.98
#001799 313938 banjo bolts 7/16"x20x1 1/16 $1.99x2=$3.98

If you are going junk yarding make sure you have the proper tools:
Allen wrench I think its 3/8 for the caliper bolts, get the type that fits on a ratchet.
BFH
Wasp & hornet spray
PB blaster
chisel
hack saw
screw drivers both
cutters
Spindle nut socket
Breaker bar
