Having a hard time finding a decent rotating asy 9:5.1 balanced majority of them are Too high of a compression ratio or for the wrong make.
I have a 351w looking to stroke it out to 408, not looking to go crazy or do anything wild.
Any help is appreciated.

What size are your combustion chambers?

Some of the SCAT stroker stuff is : 10.5:1 w/54cc OR 10.1:1 w/58cc OR 9.6:1 w/64cc

I believe I have 54cc aluminum heads. I'm looking for the paper work right now trying to figure it out.

Update... Correction 64. Cc heads

I am pretty sure I bought my kit from Coast High Perforance (but that was 11 years ago). I was running into the same issue. They had a kit with I think were 28cc dished pistons. I used them with 58cc AFR 185 heads. Depending exactly where the top of the piston is in relation to the top of the block after assembly that put me somewhere between 9.5 and 9.8 CR. With an XE262 cam I have no problems running 89 octane (also at 2000ft elevation). I have never tried running just 87 octane.

Something in the 22cc dished piston should net you the same results. That was also with a 40 thousandths gasket.

tabascom16, How does your 408 run? I'm looking into the same 408 build.

After I got the timing set correctly and the carb dialed in right, it runs very good. I am very pleased with the setup. It is a good setup for a Bronco or a truck. I have seen almost identical builds (same heads and pistons...ever slightly different cam and different intakes) do right at 500 lb-ft torque and somewhere in the 375-400HP range.

Yes you can get more horsepower with bigger heads and a bigger cam, but you lose the lower RPM grunt that is nice for a street machine where you are spending most of your time in the lower RPMs. Plus larger heads and upgrades add several hundred bucks to the build.

I have more questions than answers.
I already bought a 351W to stroke, trying to stick to my budget. Trying to stay below 10.1 compression ratio, I just ordered this rotating assy http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/eagl...tating-assembly-9-4-1-mahle-dish-pistons.html

I wish I would have seen this sooner. I had a bad experience with CNC Motorsports and I crank I ordered from them. I checked for reviews before hand and there was none. I called ahead to make sure the crank would work for my application and was told yes. Needless to say it didn't. When I tried to add a review it was deleted.

I hope you have a better experience than I did.

Does any one have suggestions for a mild cam, it has to be street able with more than enough vacuum for brakes. I have a new cam not sure what the grind is but it's kind of weak.

Weak in what regards? Seems to fall flat on its face at higher RPMs or the engine just seems sluggish at all RPMs? If it is at all RPMs timing and carb issues are probably making it sluggish.

You really should find out the specs of your cam first and then go from there.

I am running a Comp Cams XE262 in my 408W. Nice streetable cam. You lose a little bit of that off idle punch, but it doesn't fall flat on its face over 4000 rpm either. I have something like 18-19" of vacuum at idle. It has 218/224 duration at 50 thousandths.

I should of had have more low end grunt with my 302. But since I'm building a 408 stroker i just want to make sure I have the correct cam for my build. Nothing crazy I'm not looking to go wild with the build but just enough.
