Thanks for posting those pics......where can you find those sheetmetal screws?? Are they easy to work with?? I have never worked with these before. Do they just screw in like a normal screw?? Thanks;D

I POR-15'ed that baby. Also, I was so ticked that I didn't have 4 hands while trying to put it back in that I welded bolts into the holes so that I could thread and tighten the nuts on the firewall side. I was so po'ed trying to do it myself cause I didn't have anyone to hold the wrench on the firewall side. I'll post a pic.

The pans are Dennis Carpenter. Great fit. Little trimming

Sheet metal screws are self-tappers from Home Depot. It only takes a second to put them in with a drill. They will be taken out and the holes welded when I have time to finish it up. If you look at the BD article in the current issue, I used Clecos to do the passenger side. The reason I used sheet metal screws this time was because the clecos didn't hold the two pieces of sheet metal tight enough together for my taste. The sheet metal screws sucked the two pieces of metal really tight. So far, I am really happy with the way it has turned out.

If anyone else wants more pictures, email me and I will send them to you. There are too many to post here.

74Bronc!

Well, I did my best with the Clecko's today! Today was the first time that those guys failed me. I couldn't get the welds close enough!

I am going to HD to get the self tapping sheet metal screws! The problem area is the cross brace! I can't get the floor board to pull tight enough!!! Then there is where the floor board meets the tunnel! I have had out my ball peen hammer for that. I am sick of beating the steel, and am using the screws! I give in!

Good news, though! My cowl came off like a dream!!!! I went ahead and orderdd the passenger side of the cowl, though. The tray beneath the windshield is pretty nasty! I want to rip out both sides and do it right~!!!!!!

cool.....you got to work on the Bronco today! Not me!!

Anyway, could you post a pic of that driver's side cowl when you get a chance. I need to replace mine too at some point in the near future. I think that is why I get a puddle of water on the driver's side floor when it rains.

Not a problem at all! I will post photos tomorrow and show what's I got!!!

The good news is that the tray beneath the cowl is all rusty, but is still structurally sound! I don't know why....maybe they used thicker steel? Anyway, there is lots and lots of rust in there, but the bugger is strong as can be! There is only one small area, near the driver's side door post (I just replaced her) where I have a couple of smaller than dime holes! I am using "QuickSteel" there. It is a putty, just as good, if not better than the putty offered by POR. I have used the stuff for years on British beasts, when I had holes and noone was making panels!

I'll take lots of "love-my-ride" shots for ya!

What is por15? I am using black rustolium paint to paint the inner pannels that are not visibile. Is por15 better? Or what is it used for?

POR15 is a thick "paint" that locks rust where it is and does not let it grow. It makes the rusty spots look nice and clean also. It is a rust stopper pretty much. I have used Rustoleum (in a spray can, but only on the small parts that need a good coat to ensure rust wont creep in;D)
