I too have discovered that my spring tension is too tight. Probably b/c I had to shorten my arm by 3.5" to get the 13" blade to fit correctly on my windshield. Does anyone know where I can obtain a spring with the correct tension? I read the old mustang springs work, but is there a specific application I can pick up at Kragen or a general parts store? I tried using my old wiper springs, but they look quite flimsy. Or can I just heat and stretch the springs out as previously mentioned?

I'm not trying to bag on anyone, but 350°? Are you sure?
I'm no metallurgist, but I do deal with heat treated parts and 350° isn't much heat at all. If our parts drop below 1000° we'll redo them. I know this all depends on the material but...

Again, I don't want to tell anyone their business, but I seriously doubt this will do anything more than stink up the kitchen and put you in deep kimchi with the wife.

Just one man's opinion, doesn't make it right,

It depends like you said material and thickness. I will be honest and say that I did not do the research myself. The information I gave was from several knife makers I know in the ABANA.

The springs I used were from a '70 mustang. ya might get lucky and be able to get it from an auto parts store. The ones I had were laying around from a parts car. I bet most old ford mid-size cars use the same springs.
I don't think there'd be anything wrong with heating up a spot and stretching it a bit. other than probably affecting the metallurgy and ending up with a brittle spot that might snap eventually.

Thanks ugly74. Unfortunately my local auto parts store did not carry any wiper arm springs. However, I will scrounge the local junk yard for some replacements.

when i did this conversion a while ago, i ended up with the wipers skipping all the time, so i ditched them and puit them on the 72 before we sold it so it would have wipers, if i do this again how can i get them not to skip?
