I'm in the garage installing hydroboost w/ Astro master cylinder and realize I dont know which ports on the M/C are front/rear. It would seem logical that the front port would go to the front axle but who knows... well i hope somebody here does! :D

i'll post some pics here once I get it done which will hopefully be tonight. It's coming out very nicely so far.

thank you!

Forward port is front.... This is the same for all GM MCs

I stand to be corrected.. All GM MCs are not the same ...

Mad,

Are you sure about this? The front resivoir for on the Astro is so small and the back one is so much bigger it's hard to imagine the front resivoir is big enough for the front calipers.

I need this same question answered and wasjust naturally going to hook up the larger resivior (rear) to the front brakes like the fords.

Thanks,
Galen

oh oh.

here's a pic. As you can see I have the rear port going to my prop valve which goes to the rears.

Sorry guys if I misinformed anyone. This got me looking again as I made the mistake awhile ago using the Vette MC. It was my understanding after that lesson that all GM MCs were set-up for the front bowl to be the front discs.. I also made a corrected post about my mistake.... And now I'm doing it again....
Why do we use GM parts anyway...%)

I was just passing along my knowledge on this, I wouldn't of answered it If I wasn't sure.
Now I need to research this more.....
Last person that I just checked with, (a friend who's managing a performance parts store) told me that GM MCs are not all the same...

re-posting to this thread to:

"no sweat Mad, like i said - I wasn't happy with my hard lines and wanted to re-do them anyway. To confirm, I just put fluid only in the small, front reservoir and the fluid came out the front port when i squeezed the piston.

Front Port / Small reservoir = Rear Wheels (Drum)

Rear Port / Large reservoir = Front Wheels (Disc)"
