• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

First, I wanted to say that I have greatly enjoyed reading these forums the last 2 weeks. My first car was a 1990 Bronco, and I wish I would of never gotten rid of it. I'm at the beginning of my hunt and this time I want it to be in the 66-77 years.

Thanks in advance for your advice as I'm hoping you'll help me choose a great Bronco.

Here are a few questions I have:

1. Should I stay away from V6? Only stick to V8.

2. What years are better to look at then others?

Here is a Bronco I'm going to look at today. Seems a little steep. Your thoughts?

1. They are either v8 or a straight six (not V6)

2. Really not a ton of difference for normal street use, if upgrades are already done virtually none. I prefer the later 74-77, in general the later ones tend to have the D44 up front, disc brakes, Autos. Some will say, the 76-77 are the most desirable unless you live in a difficult emission test state. Jeff Bronco Graveyard and some others have a timeline when options were introduced.

The one in the pictures looks like a good start. The ABSOLUTE most important help would be to have a "bronco guy" luck it over for or with you. It has fuel injection which is great upgrade, start of decent cage and "good" paint. The biggest issue for me would be what does the bedliner coverup (good metal or crappy repair).

If I bought it, clean it up well, detail, fix the bugs and enjoy.

Update:

I went today to take a look at it. It's at a repair shop and the guy who owns it got if from a friend who couldn't pay his bill once they got the work done.

302 5.0 from a Mustang & Shows 45,000
Body is in great shape
Doesn't have soft or hard top
35" tires with a 2" body lift
Spray in interior floor. Little rust and seems to be in good shape.

The guy selling it knows the owner and said he did a restore about 10 years ago.

Thoughts? How does the price fair with what you've seen?

Thanks.

Me personally, would be in around $6,500, but that's just me.. You're gonna have to invest in some sort of top at some point.

Don't limit yourself to buying just in OK if you can help it. 99% of the time, the EB's in OK are way overpriced, and have been for the last several years. Not to say that there's not a gem waiting to be had in OK at the right price, but you can probably save yourself a bundle if you'll look in NM, CO, KS and NE as well. Good luck!!

Thanks!

Okie, thanks for the information. I wondered the same thing because they are rare here.

Does anybody else have a price that they would play for her? I like that it has the mustang engine and it's in good shape. I do think its too steep though.

Some mods were possibly done at some time, it appears to have 66 doors on it. Just an FYI, 66/67 doors are unique with regards to striker post, key position, interior handles. Good luck with your search and welcome.

Good body, paint, FI motor, 66 doors, I'd say it's pretty close. Especially if $8500 is asking, 7K might buy it.

Yea them '66 doors would pop up a red flag on what year the vin.# really is...and one would really need to check in and under the tub as that beliner is nice, but nice for covernin up rust also...

Just from the looks of the pix and is as he says it is well it would bring 10 grand in my area...or they would atleast ask that!!

The ad doesn't say anything about the axles? Do they have lockers, upgraded axles, disc brakes etc. Is the trans a C4 or AOD?

Remember, the costs can also add up when buying out of state, fuel, food, lodging and such. Its nothing to add another grand to the cost.

If the body's in relatively good shape and the drivetrain seems solid. I'd say the price is reasonable.

66-68 generally have dana 30s and you will find more straight 6's, exterior reflectors not lights and they sit lower on the quarter panels.
69-72 have t-shifter for the transfer case
73-75 dash has additional holes for lights, and j shifters for the transfer case
76-77 covered gas cap.

I am sure there are ton more but that is what I have noticed.
