New Buyer Looking For Advice on Value

I would take the cream one over the red one any day of the week with all the upgrades you mention

I recently bought my first EB here in Denver and if I had it to do over I would have brought it to local tire shop for free brake inspection or even paid for a complete vehicle inspection. Unfortunately, I did this after I bought it.

One shop did do a complete vehicle inspection for free and they came up with about 2,500 worth of brake and axle work (replace bearings and leaking seals)

Seller wasn't dishonest in representing it, just so happens that everything on a 30 year old rig was worn out, although still functional...................go figure, right ?

By the looks in the pics, the owner took care of it and upgraded a lot of stuff so I am betting you will have better luck

My $.02 on Bronco #1.
If you are looking for a restored Bronco keep looking. This is a modified street Bronco.
The comment converted from a '70 - a '73 sport have no idea what that means IMO it neither add or subtracts from the value. No sport emblems on the fenders.
Nice to have in a Bronco if buying already done and ready to go is Power steering, power brakes and discs up front.
For a street Bronco nothing wrong with a Dana 30 up front.
Does it start & run good from a cold start?
does it drive straight at 65 mph.
like everyone else said make sure the frame & glove box VIN's match.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! I'm off to look at these rigs today, so we'll see what happens.

As far as rain in cali - boy, we could sure use it, but I'm not complaining about all the sunny-and-70 weather either. ;D

Well, if you are hoping and planning for rain..........you might want to make sure to get some wipers for the cream one

Fair enough. I saw 3 Broncos Saturday, the two I posted pictures of and a third one I didn't bother to mention, which was in much worse condition than the others (including some crazy issues like no parking brake, and something causing a short and draining the battery, so you had to disconnect the battery every time you stop it, lol).

The guy with the red Bronco explained that his description of "a 1970 converted to 1973" referred to body style, basically. It was all one original truck, what he was describing was removing the hard top and doors, and adding the inserts, to make it look like a 1973 sport. He seemed to think that was the first year the roadsters were offered, I guess, I dunno (I don't think that's true, but I'm not positive). Anyway, it was fun driving the 3-on-the-tree, but the rig was very shaky feeling, kind of drifted all over the road. I'm looking for something that will see more on-road than off-roading, so I need it to be reasonably stable at speed, and this really wasn't.

The cream one was better, it just had a lot of little issues - some electrical problems, the tailgate didn't close properly and was really squeaky, stuff like that. Generally it looked pretty clean. The paint job was pretty bad, lots of overspray, and some of it (like the door jambs) the guy had painted himself with spraypaint (the color match was actually pretty good). It rode better than the other two, but it wasn't perfect - not that I'm really expecting perfect.

Anyway, so I told him I'd think about it. I don't want to rush my search and from what I can tell its sort of a buyers market, he said he hadn't had any offers in 3 weeks, so I feel like I have some time to maybe see a few more. I didn't feel like it was something I had to have, that I couldn't pass up, so if he sells it in the meanwhile, the more power to him. But we'll see... ;)

Thanks again for everyone's advice, it was very helpful.

BTW, the cream Bronco, more so than the other two, which looked physically more beaten up, had a pretty noxious exhaust smell. This worried me a bit, too. I know its a 40-year-old car, but I wasn't sure it should smell that bad. He said he thought it was because of how the exhaust was positioned, and because it was old (looking underneath the car, it stood out as the one thing that was quite a bit older and rustier looking than everything else, which was generally pretty clean). Any comments on that? Is that normal?

Oh, dude. Trust me, I know! I've been looking at that thing for days now. I was thinking a smaller price range, but I am seriously considering changing my budget and just saving for a little while longer to get something more like that. Hell, if I can save 20k and its still for sale, I'd have a good mind to jump on it.
