Bronco Guru
I just bought a '73 a week ago. I couldn't be more pleased. I have wanted one of these trucks since before I could drive. It has almost everything I was looking for.
I do have a slight problem in that neither the Speedo/Odo or fuel guage work (non of the factory guages work -- there ARE working aftermarket temp and oil pressure guages though). I therefore have to guess as to when I need gas. And this thing only has the rear 13 gallon tank.
I looked at the tank sending unit and it's not hooked up (not sure why), so that is my first step. I plan to drop the tank down a bit and hook it up to see if that is all it is.
As for the speedo -- there is no cable. Looks like where it attaches to the tranny, the PO put a plate and some silicone there (??).
My question is, what cable/parts (with part # if possible) should I order to get the speedo working? Here is a description of the truck from the PO--
"1973 Ford Bronco, totally restored from frame up. Frame has been boxed and has added crossmembers, as well as dual shocks on all four corners. Dana 44 and 9 inch diffs both posi and with 4.10 gears. Power steering and Power brakes. Front end is disc brake and rear is drum. The drivetrain consists of an NP435 4 speed trans and NP203 transfercase with slide yoke shafts. Engine is a 1969 351 Windsor with ported E7 heads and roller rockers, Crower camshaft and Offy 4 barrel intake with Edelbrock 600 carb. Has 2 inch Body lift and brand new 33 inch BFG All Terrains on American Racing Baja's. Body is fiberglass by Kentrol and has steel doors, factory hardtop and new Besttop soft top. Interior is complete with new Auto Krafters carpet center console and racing buckets. Pioneer CD head unit and boxed 6x9 speakers. This is really one nice piece of equipment. The body was shot in laquer paint and is really the only part of the Bronco that would need touched up, due to it lifting in a few places. This thing needs nothing has approx. 15,000 since resto and is one of the most reliable hot rods I have owned. You could drive this thing anywhere."
I would post some pics, but I don't think it will let me because this is my first post.
Thanks in advance for the help. I can already tell this forum will be a huge help!
