New Metal Hood (help me locate U-bolt windshield rest)

I purchased a new metal Hood from Jeff's Bronco Graveyard a few months back. It has the two holes in it for the U-bolt or Footmans Loop or windshield rest or whatever else you want to call it. I just need the U-bolt with the rubber coating, washers and nuts. I can't find it anywhere. Tom's has an $83.00 kit which has it and the windshield mounting braket which I don't want. Just need the U-bolt. I found them for Jeeps, but they don't list the size, so I don't want to waste $12.00 if it doesn't fit. The other issue is that everyone seems to call this part something different, so searching for it is very difficult. Let me know if you know where to get this part.

Thanks,

Chris B.

Why not fabricate one? bend the rod ,thread the ends and coat the top in tool dip.

I thought about that, but I would rather dedicate the time to putting the Bronco back together. If I can't find a supplier, I guess I will do just that. I was hoping it was as simple as ordering it.

NPD has the whole latching assembly as a kit. It's spendy though!

Why is the jeep one $11.00 and Tom's charges $35.00? We are talking about a U-bolt with rubber coating. Oh hell, this is just stupid. I could have made one by now.

Thanks guys,

Chris B.

I think the Jeep Stainless one is $15.00. I bet you it is the same size or similar, but they don't post the size, so there is no way to be sure. I may end up buying Tom's, I just feel that $35.00 for a U-bolt is legalized robbery. It is not the money as $35.00 in the scheme of what I have spent on this Bronco project is nothing, but it is the principle of the matter. I could make it out of stainless for probably $7.00 in parts and spend several hours getting the parts and driving out to my friends to do the welding & polishing.

Sorry to rant.

hood latch

I replaced my old painted, chipped steel one. I polished the new toms one. I think its worth every penny. I have seen old painted steel ones go for the same price on ebay. I like my new one so much better.

Got the same hood.......had the holes welded up.

I was going to have the holes welded up and then I thought it would be cool to have the u-bolt to lay the windshield down on or at the very least the look of it, so I left them. Now the hood is painted and installed, so no way to weld them up.

I thought about installing the whole set for it, but when I saw what it costs, and with all the other things I was having done, the economical thing was to just get it welded.....( yeah mine wasn't painted yet, so I might have bought the set if it was)
