No lower ball joint retainer ring?

I just did the ball joints on my rig and noticed that the lower joints where not long enough to have the retainer ring on them. Anyone else seem to notice this?

I just put new ones in mine and they wouldnt go down far enough to put the retainer on them. The old ones that i took out didnt have them on it either.

The ball joints are designed to fit a variety of different knuckles. Some use the ring and some don't. The knuckles on our EB's don't use it.
