• Be EXTREMELY cautious if someone offers to buy your Bronco for more than your asking price and sight unseen. ESPECIALLY if the buyer is overseas. It's probably a scam.

Wondering if anyone knows this Bronco. I'm in Oregon and it's a little too far to run out to look at. I was thinking price seems a little high but I'm sure he's got at least that into it. He emailed me some pics and it looks really clean. I'm not a huge fan of the color or the rear windows but those things could be overlooked and changed if it's as clean as it appears. It looks like a nice rig and the price seems very reasonable. New engine, disk brakes on all four corners, new soft top, etc. I wonder what the interior looks like?

If there is anyone in the area that could look at it , that would be great. That could save me from making an $11000.00 mistake. I don't know about anyone else, but that's a significant amount of cash in my household. Just convincing the wife that it's a good idea ( considering there's already one Bronco in pieces on the premises) requires a great deal of mental gymnastics. I hear things like "If that's what you really want" or "Do you really think you need another Bronco?" Thank God I married such a wonderful and understanding woman. She realizes it's kind of a sickness or maybe a disorder. Maybe she thinks if I get it I'll shut up about Broncos for a while, fat chance!

Hey Zakaroid,

If there is anyone in the area that could look at it , that would be great. That could save me from making an $11000.00 mistake. I don't know about anyone else, but that's a significant amount of cash in my household. Just convincing the wife that it's a good idea ( considering there's already one Bronco in pieces on the premises) requires a great deal of mental gymnastics. Twin sons of different mothers?

I too had one Bronco, not in pieces, but with some finishing up to do when I decided I wanted a change.

I thought I would have learned a large lesson after buying the first Bronco sight unseen. Obviously I didn't.

The second Bronco has some real strengths. A good body and paint aren't one of them, nor were a few other things.

Bottom line, if there is full disclosure, a person may not need to see a Bronco like this first hand. (And to drive the Bronco first hand.) There are things I really like about the second Bronco; but, I would not have paid what I did for it. I would have offered less.

Even if someone is willing to look at it, you need to make sure your expecations are the same.

My wife is very understanding, too. She was sitting in the garage yesterday afternoon as I discussed which direction we would go with both of them.

My recommendation is to figure out exactly what is important to you (and write them down), and then consider the Bronco from this perspective... If you go look at it, you will be able to touch, smell, observe and drive the vehicle. You'll know if it's worth that much money to YOU. Or, if someone looks at it for you, makes sure you have written down exactly what is impotant to you, and then plug in "unknown" factor because it won't be you looking at it.

Personally, I believe that the POs of both of our Broncos were probably doing a happy-dance when I agreed to buy them without seeing/driving them first.

Good Luck

Jeff

I agree, keeping a level head through the process is important too. On the plus side I was contacted by a guy here in Oregon that has an uncut 70 for sale. It's about 2hrs away, so I could easily make that trip, look at and drive it. Who knows I may have still bought my first Bronco due to the fact I didn't know all the problem areas and a lot of the problems weren't discovered until I started pulling things apart to bedliner the interior. I think I would have paid less than I did and that sticks with you through the restoration process. Having that additional $1000-1500 to spend can make the process easier. I made an offer on this Bronco on Friday to test the waters and haven't heard anything back. I wasn't trying to lowball him and hope I didn't offend him. I know how frustrating it can be when you're trying to sell something, you know what it's worth and people insult you with lowball offers.........then they act like you're the one who's crazy!
