I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, but I'm sure someone will let me know if it's not ; )
Does anyone in the Northern Virginia area have a 220 welder I can borrow? I am bringing a 1977 bronco back to life, and have maybe one weekend left of body work left before I plan to install a roll cage. I've replaced the driver and passenger floor pans, floor brace, 4 bed corners, door striker, inner fenders, wheel well, and some of the cowl. I took a weekend welding class, bought a 140 mig, and spent probably around 100 hours over the last few months cutting, grinding, and welding every weekend. I posted pictures of the rust, and the consensus was that the body may not be worth saving. So, I bought a sheet of 16 gauge, and started fabricating and welding patch panels. It's been a great learning experience, and I can say that I brought a bronco back to life that probably would have been scrapped.
But back to the question at hand, my 140 mig is not powerful enough to weld a roll cage. The plan is to buy a bronco bob cage, pre fitted, and weld it together in my garage. If anyone has a 220 welder, or knows a friend that does, I would be eternally greatful if I could borrow it for a weekend. I'm sure I'll have the opportunity to pay it forward to another car enthusiast in the future!
