NP435 rebuild questions (input bearing and Race + oddball small plastic part)

The Ford manual says to:
“Pull the bearing race from the front bearing retainer with Puller T50T-100-A and OTC-943.”
“Remove the tapered roller bearing from the input shaft with Tool T64T-7025-A and T54T-4625-B1.”
Anyone know what those are or look like? The are great photos in FIG. 15 & 16 of installing the bearing and race, not anything on the removal.

And... I just figured out what the small plastic detent looking button was for.
Anyway-

Anyone pull the bearing and race off the input shaft?

Not exactly the tool numbers but likely very close.

When I did mine, I used a tool similar to the one BMC69 references. I got mine from HF and it has the rest of the puller parts. Seems to work fine for most things so far.

Cool- so a bearing splitter to pull the bearings- check
Pulling the race? I guess I could just leave it, but I was always taught to replace the race when replacing the bearing.

different question

thanks for all the help thus far.

Do I need to lightly grease the tapered bearing on the input shaft? The manual doesn't mention it, but does mention light grease on the input shaft roller bearings, and the thrust washers. I'm thinking these bearings do not receive the splash oiling as easily or as quickly?

It also says: "Coat all parts with specified transmission lubricant to prevent scoring when transmission is first operated."
But it doesn't saw what this is. My gear oil of choice?

any thoughts?

If in doubt add lube.

I think your 50W lube would be fine. Some parts on mine and the D20 I used vaseline.

Some of the roller bearings have to be held in place while a shaft is inserted. I throw my tube of vaseline in the freezer so it will help hold the bearings while I fumble around trying to assemble. Again, I rebuilt mine in June when the weather was pretty warm so I didn't have a lot of time before the vaseline started to get soft again which decreases its holding power.
