First question, with a 1" body lift, will I have to cut much?

I did find a few pics of some tunnel cuts, but any more out there?

Thanks.

My 67 has a NP435 and a 1" body lift. The hole I cut in the tunnel wasn't too big but it did land right where a cross member was. I really don't think its much of an issue. I also made a hole cover that raised up about an inch then had the shifter boot on that. Made this piece out of some sheet metal I had laying around. Works really good.

Is the larger piece of sheet steel an access panel if you have to get into the transmission?

looks great.

The flat part is to cover the hole for the trans and also to cover the small holes from the old transfercase shifter cover and some other small holes the previous owner did. You could make that bottom piece smaller if you cut the hole for the trans smaller also I left the shifter on the trans when I installed it. It would be easier to install with out the shifter. I did my install about 5-6 years ago so I don't remember all the details.

I had to cut about 4"x6" rectangle for the top of the tranny to poke thru. Actually I just bought a np435 tunnel riser and shifter boot from wild horses that finished it off very nicely and was precut and added about 1.25 inches lift to the tunnel. Without it I couldn't get my shifter boot to fit.

... SORRY BUT I THINK Mine was the sweetest .. After I'd cut a hole about like the 1st picture.. I just got an oil box. Heavy cord broad & started cutting it & to fit & taping it in place with DUCK TAPE... after I WAS HAPPY WITH THE Shape .. I coated it about 3 times with fiber glass inside & under side. .. Mine has been in place for 7 years & I've cut it out to work on my trans & twin stick sifters .. Very simple to re-coat with more fiberglass.
... After I'm happy with it I spray paint it black.
... I've even gone back & place 2 cup holders & a trinket draw in mine .

Over the years I have come to find there are a couple of different shift towers for the 435. This results in some needing a bigger hole and others not so much. Add in different body lift (or even body mount conditions) and there is a little more wild card.
