nv3550 clutch install

hey guys i'm kinda in a tight spot. just got finished cutting that b@#$h of a floor pan support out with a crappy die grinder. needless to say i'm tired and want to finish this install. i know i need to torque flywheel bolts onto 80 ft/lbs and the clutch needs to be aligned with the sup;plied tool but when i put the pressure plate on, how much torque do i put the bolts to? plus i'm only 16 so i'm not patient at all and need an answer soon. thanks for the help!

Patience is a necessity when working on Broncos.

That being said they get torqued to 35 ft-lbs.

BTW, where did you get the install tool? I had to modify one on a lathe to fit the pilot bearing.

tool comes in clutch kits bought from well known bronco parts dealers aka- toms bronco parts, wild horses are the two i know of.

When I bought mine from Toms, it didn't come with the tool. You can order a specific alignment tool from Advanced Adapters which is like $20. I ended up going to autozone and getting a Dorman "Help" version #14522 for $2.99 and wrapped the tip with electrical tape until it grew from 5/8 to 3/4. Worked the very first time I went to slide the trans in.

I have a universal one that I bought to use on mine but you said you got yours with your clutch kit which I did not know they were putting in them now as many of use on here have bought from toms and wildhorses and not had a tool included. My trans and install kit were bought thru wildhorses and it didn't come with one.

Tool can be ordered from WH, JBG as well. Plastic, but does the job.
