Yes, I'm running it. Works great. Only complaint is a slight leak around the shifter shaft. Not bad just annoying.

As I said, works great - almost too good! Make sure you can control axle wrap. I broke a few things before I installed a WH Wrap Trap. Have not had an issue since. I did not use their cable shifter. I built a lever directly on the shaft. Simple and works well.

Do your research had people on here tell me not to use the dana 20 broken gears cases and you need to upgrade the out put shaft . About to put black box behind a zf but with a 205 . Had both t-case wanted to use the dana 20 cause about 2.5" shorter . The 205 cannt break , longer , taller gears and the rear drive shaft is going to be fun .

Thanks Pat. Saw local CL ad for Ford NP 205 for $750. Never looked for used one so can’t comment on fairness of price. Anyone got prices in ur area ?

I paid $75 for a NP205 and $50 for another that was missing the rear output. $750 is stupid expensive IMHO...

p.s. I'm one of the guys who broke 3 D20s over the years. All low range gears. Apparently they don't like high rpm sand running. No problem with the 205 so far.

Don't waste time and money on a d20...4 cases cracked, one output shaft until I did the mass buy for BC Broncos 300M shaft, one low range gear set...go NP205. Don't pay more than 150 bucks complete. Make sure you get the late model 32 spline shafts on the 205..

Torque without speed KILLS drivetrain parts...ask us how we know!! I ran a ZF/203/D20 for 12 years... broke about every part you could....most while idling

4r70w/KluneV/Atlas for a 6 years
4r70w/KluneV/205 now...love the splits

C4, short adapter, reverse pattern manual valve body. Only adds about 3/4" to length. But I'm also stretched about 10 inches so length was not a consideration for me. I have not experienced any issues with the D20 - no cracked case and still running the stock rear output shaft.

I will probably break my dana 20 next time out but I have never broken one and I have been wheeling the same one for a lot of years and I doubt many people beat on their rig any harder than I do. Maybe I've jut been lucky. I'm not bashing. I have heard this said for years but just haven't experienced it yet. Heck I used to take a spare with me on long trips just in case. I quit doing that years ago but I have a few laying around just in case I do break one.

You are pricing stuff on Craig's List. That's your problem.

$50-75 are good deals. These days they are a little harder to find. You just don't see the 70's trucks in the junkyards like you did a decade or more ago. They are also a desirable transfer case for non-ford products. The Ford version was the only driver's side drop, GM and Dodge were passenger side. But the newer stuff is driver's side. To put a bomb proof case in one of these newer trucks you get the Ford case and swap in the GM/Dodge input shaft. So the market is warmer then it should be for the Ford 205s. I would consider $200 a fair price, maybe even $250. And expect the yokes to be wrong, but those can still be had new. Just adds to the expense.

Thanks for all comments. I bought a running 86 4wd F150 for $400 for NP 435 but decided to make cheap truggy until something breaks. Thought CL price ridiculous but never researched sourcing difficulty. Around here C4’s, nodular 9” etc getting hard to find.

Sorry, part was on eBay not CL. And nearby so save freight. Think will shoot an offer, can’t hurt.

Here are some rebuild units out there. All pricy but I have NP 203 box that I could build that would help total cost. Thanks again for help.
