Well I am now officially the owner of a 1966. My goal is to do a frame off restoration and customize. I have few questions about a few items I picked up with the Bronco. First there are some things I will be selling or hanging on to base on the feed back and suggestions I get. The front bumper, rear bumper, front bucket seats will all def be going up for sale. I also have a Dana 44 front end with disc that I will be looking to see if it is usable. I also have an extra 9" rear end. I have a complete 3 speed with Dana 20. There is absolutely no play in this at all and everything turns very smooth. My goal is to go to the NV 3550. Will I need a TC for core, and will they take a 3 speed for core, or should I sell both of the complete set ups and buy a complete package with NV3550 adapter and Dana 20? I an original air cleaner with the instructions decal still on it for tuning engines back to the 50's. There are what I believe are some trim pieces for the door windows. Even though this is not a half cab, the guy gave me what he said was the divider wall between the cab and bed for the half cab. It is in great shape. I have 2 fender from what he said was a 70. Both appear to be in fairly good shape with the original Bronco logo on both. I have what I believe is a cross member piece with two support brackets, not sure what they are. Any questions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know the gearing on the 9" rear. I'm looking for a 4.11. Only need the chunk, not the whole thing.

Rotate the axle one revolution and count how many times the yoke turns. Hence 1:3.5 . Also, see if there is a tag on one of the bolts that holds the chunk in.

haha, you're right. That didn't help. When you can, give it the rotation check and post it. What's inside is most important. Good luck with your project.

In regards to the NV3550 swap and TC question. I suggest you keep the TC since one does not come with the NV3550 kit and you would just be spending money to get a new one if that oen works so well. Worse case scenario, get a rebuild kit to ensure it's good to go.

Good luck and have fun.

I'll pass on some advice that people gave me, but I ignored... If it's only gonna take a couple mechanical fixes to be a running rig, do those things and basically do a running rebuild. Hold off on doing a frame off for as long as possible.

If you want a new motor, get a core and rebuild it. If you want to rebuild the front and rear ends, get all the parts, rebuild and throw it back on. Do everything in bits and pieces until you're ready to pull the body and refurbish the frame and complete the body work.

I'm a year into a frame-off on my 74 and I still have a bare frame sitting in the garage. Many others have projects that last 3+ years. If you have every penny you need to complete it, go for it, but otherwise wait.
