OK,,, here is the newest installment of one weird brake issue.... This is what I have... I just switched out MC to the 1980 corvette, chevy hydroboost, chevy rear 1/2 ton calipers, ford 78' bronco front calipers. I have replaced the lines all the way down to the calipers, they are all new. I have replaced the calipers, the MC,and the hydroboost..... I still have very little if any front brakes... please help I am going nuts, day two of messing with this is done and it still is not working.......

Is this a caliper issue? this can't be a MC, this is the 3rd one......
Is there something wrong with the lines?????
Will the chevy MC even work with the ford calipers???

I am looking for anything

Heres a shot in the dark for you

Have you adjusted the actuating rod under the dash correctly??
It should have VERY little movement in it, that is to day the pedal should start moveing the rod toward the booster the second you touch it. If there is to much slack the brakes will not engage fully. Should be about 30 thousands slack see what I mean by very little.
If too much slack not enough fluid moves to activate any of the brakes.

your rear calipers could be to big you can go with 79 lincoln calipers in the front they are bigger to equalize the system.

if you are using rubber drop lines you can pinch one off with vice grips and hit the brakes if you clamp the f and the brakes are good then the f are the prob.

Did you just go to discs?

If you just switched to front discs from drums,or four wheel dics, you must have the proper proportioning valve or you will experience symtoms you discribed. There are some adjustable ones also that you can favor one side or another if that will help.

OK, I have an adjustable proportioning valve, I will check the slack in the morning. I was wondering if the ford calipers were to big for the chevy MC (volume wise). I have very little to the front calipers.

Chevy MC moves plenty of fluid.

What reservoir are connected to the front/rear?

the rear larger port is connected to the front brakes, and the smaller port is to the rear..... however, if I switch them, I get nothing....

That's backward. On the corvette, and many other chebys, it's front/front and rear/rear. Switch the lines, and remove the prop valve.

The reason you get nothing is likely related to the prop valve. Also make sure you bench bleed the master properly.

OK, hang onto your butts,,,,here was the issue,,,, I was on my way to try to find larger brake lines and was talking to the guy at Tulsa Brake...He said the the line size was fine, but there was prob. air left in the caliper.... he said in the old corvettes you had to take the caliper off to put the bleeder valve at the correct angle to get all the air out..... so I was off to try this... Now remember that this was a ground up build up over the past year and a half..... I went and took off the front driver side caliper when I realized that the bleeder valve was in the wrong position......I HAD THE CALIPERS ON THE WRONG SIDE!!!!

Its always the simple stuff that will kill you........ switched them and its fixed.....thanks for all the input.....

chalk this one up to stupidity!!!!!!!!

That's a common mistake on the chev brakes. I wasn't sure if the ford stuff was the same.

Anyway, your lines are still on wrong and it does make a difference.

Ahhh man, such stress over a simple mistake. That's usually how my luck is too. Glad you got it figured out!
