I for one would like to say I really enjoyed the article on both Locopony and Old Horse Racing in Bronco Driver this past issue. Although I have never raced off-road, One of my first books I ever remember reading was about the baja and off road racing. The preperation that Chuck/Paul put into their machines is to easily read about and to very many details overlooked. Just to be able to enter two older broncos in that race was awsome itself, not including the fact that they actaully made a serious go at it. Congrats to all the guys who took part in making that happen and Does anyone know if they plan onmaking a second attempt for this up coming event??? thanks

The 2003 race was Phils 3ed or 4th 1000, it was my first. OHR will run 2004, Phil plans to run 2005

That would be outstanding Chuck. Someday, I wish to enter my Bronco in that race. Would be fun...;D ;D ;D

I have a long long ways to go before my rig will be anywhere near ready for something like that. But, I have a goal.

My favorite part:
"One of the first vehicles they encountered stuck in the silt was Jesse James in his buggy. He was trying to wave Chuck off, saying he couldn't make it. Chuck, with an awesome throttle burp, threw a rooster and blasted right past all the celebrities suck in the silt."
I like the typo too.

You GO Chuck!

Jarhead, Your Icon says it all, thank you.
You may not be as far away from racing as you think. I was passed 5? times by a Mexican in a stock VW bug, he was also having the time of his life. The movie title Dust to Glory says a lot about the Baja 1000. Few that enter win and I think very few that enter do not have the time of there lives and that makes everyone a winner. Winning would be great but to just finish would be fantastic. I highly recommend it. This would be a great club activity or get a few freinds togeather and just do it. Maybe a classicbroncos.com EB racer? The people from this list could put togeather a fantastic racer and team. How about it Jon? Motoman? Anyone? I have had more than a few say that they would like to race Baja but I think it is too pricey for most of us. But a group could do it. I, as well as all the baja racers I meet are willing to help out. You can still do it this year. If I can help let me know. The EB race forum above was setup to help each other out.

I agree. The article was great! Kudos to the teams and crew. If you can't feel the Bronco passion reading that article, then you should think about getting a J**p.

I know that the teams put a lot of efforts and $$ into fielding the Broncos. Your hard work makes the rest of us very proud!!

Thanks Chuck.

I just got my Bronco a couple of months ago. I have work to do with my engine, tranny, t-case, axles and fuel distribution before I can consider taking it on any major road trip. Much less a race. My Bronco is now in WIP stages as I'm sure most of ours are even yours I see. Maybe for the first few years as a support player or something. Who knows? I'm no Jesse James (thank God, he can't drive) but I'm good at making things work one way or another... ;) ;D ;D ;D

BTW: I'm not too far from Baja. I'm only 2 states E of Cali. Yes, New Mexico IS a state...;D ;D
